government communication

During this time of resolutions and new beginnings, it's important to focus on not just the goals we've made, but also the tools we'll need to achieve them.

Want to make work more meaningful and effective? Find solutions that remove redundancies and enable flexibility.

Our Zoom for Government (ZfG) platform can help make that goal a reality. It's designed to enable seamless communication across government work, with new features coming each month to help elevate the support of public services, support security initiatives, and improve your day-to-day processes.

Connect with constituents

Enabling access to public services is mission-critical for government agencies. That’s why it’s important to know which features you can deploy to connect with the public and create an inclusive environment for all to engage with. A few new features that can help:

  • Sign language interpretation view: The Sign Language Interpretation View is now available to all Zoom for Government accounts, helping make meetings and webinars that include sign language interpreters more accessible.
  • Broadcast voice to all breakout rooms: Account owners and admins can allow hosts to broadcast their microphone audio to all breakout rooms in a meeting. You could use this feature to better organize group events, or create order in a public forum or city council session. Previously, only device audio could be shared from the main session to breakout rooms.
  • Display preferred pronouns: If enabled by account admins and added to your profile either directly or through SAML mapping, you can display your preferred pronouns in a contact card and as part of your display name in meetings and webinars.

Strengthen security

Today’s government agencies need solutions that help protect the exchange of important and sensitive information, all with the right controls in place for compliance. While our IL4, FedRAMP Moderate, StateRAMP, and HIPAA-authorized platform, Zoom for Government, offers an aggregate of existing security features, we’re always adding more into the fold. A few recent additions to the list include:

  • Default meeting templates: Account owners and admins using the meeting templates feature can also enable default templates, such as large meetings, internet-based IL4 meetings, and seminars, which come with a subset of web, scheduler, and client-level settings. Admins can use the default templates as is or customize them based on their needs. This feature must be enabled by Zoom.
  • Admin controls for webinar registration: Account owners and admins can enable or disable webinar registration at the account or group levels, helping to make sure the right attendees join a session. They can also allow hosts to ask customized questions during registration at the account or group levels.
  • Allowed calls/SMS locations: Account owners and admins can define the locations where users can make and accept calls and send SMS. When the users are outside the allowed locations, calls and SMS will follow the “When a call is not answered” user call handling setting, helping add an extra layer of security to VoIP communications. If this setting is enabled, outbound and inbound emergency calls and SMS will still be allowed.
  • Custom emergency service number: Owners and admins can define custom emergency numbers for their entire account or sites. Once those numbers are created, they cannot be used as an extension or external number. These numbers can be used to route special extensions to an offnet destination for legacy call handling.
  • 10DLC Compliance for SMS/MMS: Account owners and admins can now set up 10DLC compliance for U.S./Canada via self-service.

Add agility to your day-to-day

Our recent releases are designed to help you work the way you want to, letting you tailor when, where, and how you communicate with others. A few ways we’re enabling that flexibility:

  • Enhancements to call history for macOS, iOS, Windows, and Android: When viewing your call history under the “Phone” tab on the desktop or mobile client, you can filter your call history by line if you receive calls from more than one line. You can look up information in a snap, and keep clear documentation about how and when you communicate with others.
  • Asset library for Zoom Phone: Account owners and admins can manage their audio library for greetings, music on hold, and more in a centralized location, helping streamline any stagnant phone workflows, as well as personalize certain communications. The library includes users, call queues, auto receptionists, and shared line groups audios.

Secure collaboration for the mission ahead

These are just a handful of the latest features that come with Zoom for Government, and most are available on commercial Zoom, too. Zoom for Government delivers an intuitive and secure experience similar to what commercial Zoom users are familiar with, but is designed to comply with the specific requirements of the U.S. federal government.

Zoom for Government has been authorized at the FedRAMP Moderate Level and has also achieved a Provisional Authorization (PA) from Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for the Department of Defense (DoD) at Impact Level 4 (IL4) and an Authorization to Operate (ATO) for DoD IL4 with the Department of the Air Force for Zoom Meetings and Zoom Phone. Zoom for Government also supports HIPAA, CJIS, and CMMC compliance requirements, and has achieved a StateRAMP Moderate authorization.
