Zoom Workplace continues to evolve with unified enhancements across mobile, web, and admin experiences to streamline your workflow.

These app updates roll out progressively starting March 23, 2026 with the 7.0.0 client upgrade, while the web simplification features will be available May 4, 2026.

Web simplification

We're bringing a unified, intuitive interface across all Zoom web products to help you save time and reduce friction:

• Redesigned web home experience: A streamlined layout with quick shortcuts to start, join, or schedule meetings so you can get where you need to go faster.
• Simplified navigation and universal header: A new universal header and product menu unify all Zoom products, replacing the cluttered side panel for a cleaner experience. Navigation now has a clear split between personal and admin controls.

• Smarter admin portal: Common admin tasks—such as enabling AI Companion, managing chat settings, or deploying new UI—now include clearer guidance and contextual help to reduce manual configuration.

Desktop app enhancements

AI Companion 3.0 functionality comes directly into the desktop application:

• AI Companion tab: A dedicated AI Companion tab brings AI assistance directly into the Zoom Workplace desktop app, making it easier to access and interact with AI features right where you work.

• Local AI Companion side panel: The AI Companion side panel is moving from the global top navigation into individual product surfaces, providing even better and more focused responses for your specific workflows.

Mobile app improvements

Your mobile experience gets more powerful and easier to control:

• Unified AI Companion controls: Hosts can manage AI Companion summaries, questions, and transcripts from one convenient panel. Participants can easily request AI Companion activation and are automatically notified once it's enabled. A clear status strip shows when transcription is active.
• Refreshed mobile meeting settings: A new Appearance section brings together all video-related settings, including low-light adjustment. Appearance, virtual backgrounds, avatars, and filters are now unified in a streamlined Video & Effects settings area.

Enhanced transcript controls

Get better clarity and control over your meeting transcripts:

• Separated captions and transcripts: Updated functionality separates captions and transcripts, giving hosts and admins clearer control over transcript activation with new, streamlined settings. 

New Zoom Chat experience

A modern, reliable chat experience built for deeper collaboration:

• Faster and more responsive: Share images, videos, and rich messages with ease, all within an AI-ready platform designed to keep you connected and productive across the Zoom Workplace ecosystem.

Availability and rollout

Desktop and mobile updates: These enhancements roll out progressively starting March 23, 2026 with the 7.0.0 client upgrade. Update your Zoom Workplace app to access the new features.

Web simplification: Web home and navigation updates become available April 2, 2026, starting with net-new enterprise customers. Existing customers can opt in via the "Try new experience" toggle, and admins have progressive rollout controls to preview and enable the simplified UI for their organization.

In-meeting desktop experience

• Primary toolbar redesign: We've cleaned up that toolbar so you only see the stuff you actually need. Want something else? Just open the "More" menu and right-click to pin a button or simply drag it to the spot you prefer.
• Unified settings menu: Ever had to hunt through menus for meeting settings? Not anymore. Everything's now in one right-hand panel, and you can get there directly from the toolbar buttons.

• Enhanced host tools: If you're running the meeting, your host controls are now organized in one spot on the right, just a click or two away.

In-meeting mobile experience

• Improved toolbar & "More" menu: Your most important actions stay right where you can see them, and we put the End/Leave button in the toolbar. Everything else lives in a neat grid in the More menu, with reactions right at the top because, let's be honest, sometimes you just need to send that thumbs up.
• Consolidated settings: No more digging through menus to find your virtual background or turn on captions. It's all in one place now: backgrounds, filters, avatars, captions, audio settings, and even Zoom Rooms settings. Everything you need to have your best meetings in one place.
• Unified share experience: Want to share your screen? A file? Your camera? Open a whiteboard? It's all in one menu now. Pick what you want to share and get back to your meeting.

Zoom Chat & sidebar navigation

• Sidebar simplification: Less visual noise, better organization. The sidebar navigation also works the same way whether you're on your computer or phone, so you don't have to use disjointed flows.
• DMs tab renamed to "Chats": We just call them "Chats" now. Simple.
• Expanded chat tab layout: Selected tabs can now fill two rows, so you're not limited to just five. Keep more of your chat filters visible.
• Files tab removed: We retired the Files tab to clean things up so you can focus on what you use most. Files shared in chats/channels are still findable via global search and in the chats/channels themselves.
• Enhanced meetings tab: Meeting chat names will be bolded by default instead of showing message counts to be less distracting. There's also a "Meetings Today" filter to quickly find what's happening now.
• One-click access: Get quick access to additional tabs in the more menu. You can temporarily pin a tab from the more menu without having to drag and drop for faster navigation.

Zoom Workplace desktop app

• New left navigation bar: We moved the navigation to the left side and stopped auto-pinning product tabs you visit once. Now you decide what stays visible and what goes in the More section. Your workspace, your way.
• Redesigned app header: Cleaner header with a new + menu that puts all of your "start something new" actions in one spot: schedule a meeting, send a message, create a doc, and more. One click, and you're off and running.
