About Japanese Red Cross Society
The Japanese Red Cross Society is a nonprofit organization that serves as Japan's affiliate of the International Red Cross. Their commitment to supporting communities started with their founding in 1877. Since then have been providing humanitarian support and emergency response services to communities across Japan for over 140 years. The organization is a respected institution that continues to deliver critical aid and disaster relief throughout the country as part of the global Red Cross network.
Our partnership and impact
On January 1, 2024, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Noto Peninsula in Japan, causing 1,500 aftershocks and a tsunami. This disaster caused destruction across the region, damaging 193,529 structures across nine prefectures, over 1,300 injuries, and loss of life.
